Grace is a spunky 98-yr-old who loves living in her own apartment in Lakewood and who treasures even more her weekly visits to the grocery store. When an unfortunate fall in her home caused a fractured hip and forced her to use a wheelchair, her whole life was turned upside down. Grace worried that she would be moved to an assisted living facility.
Her granddaughter called Visiting Nurse Association: “What a godsend VNA has been for Grandma. She’s been able to stay in her home with the help of a certified nursing aide (CNA) who helps Grandma with bathing and housekeeping. She even found a way for her to shop at King Soopers.”
Realizing that grocery shopping was important to Grace’s quality of life, the CNA arranged weekly transportation to the grocery store through Access-A-Ride. Each week, the caregiver escorts Grace to King Soopers, where she is greeted by an enthusiastic welcome from the staff.
“Visiting Nurse Association helped Grandma remain independent. It improved her quality of life.”
