Mike comes from a strong family, one that pulls together to help each other when needed. So when Mike, a Jefferson County sheriff’s deputy, needed a hip replacement, he knew he’d have support from his wife and teen sons.
What the family couldn’t provide, however, was the needed medical care and physical therapy support he required after he returned from the hospital.
“My doctor suggested Visiting Nurse Association. They’ve been great,” said Mike. “When I no longer needed nursing help, the physical therapist took over. She encouraged me throughout my recovery--helping me take short walks, transfer from a walker to a cane and practice taking the steps. My family was with me all the way.”
“On one of my last visits to see Mike,” said Carrie, Mike’s VNA physical therapist, “I noticed a new, stationary bike on the front porch—a present from his family. Mike loves using it. He’s well on his way to a full recovery.”
“I am so grateful for the home visits I received through VNA,” said Mike.
