If you have any questions at any time during the process, please call the Human Resource Department, at 303-744-6342, or e-mail Audra Staufenberg.

What you should know about WORKERS' COMPENSATION after you file a claim:

Workers' Compensation is a state-mandated program, which provides benefits to employees injured while working.  Benefits received, and compensation provided to injured workers is mandated by state law.  The rules are the same for all employees in Colorado.

Our insurance company for workers' compensation is Pinnacol Assurance: 7501 E. Lowry Blvd., Denver, CO 80230-7600.  Fax:  303-361-5400 or 1-888-329-2270.  To reach your claims adjuster at Pinnacol call 303-361-4400 or 1-888-852-2259 and give them your claim number; the adjuster can answer questions about payment of claims.  You will also be assigned a clinical case manager, who keeps current with your care and its medical appropriateness.

In Colorado, injured employees are not paid for the first three days missed due to work-related injury.  Employees with PTO benefits may use PTO for these days.  If time lost due to an injury exceeds two weeks, the first three days will then be paid.  Payment for lost time is two-thirds of your average weekly wage, capped at the state maximum.  Wages paid are based upon your recent salary history and your time sheet.  Payment for lost time comes to you from Pinnacol.  Contact Audra Staufenberg if you are not receiving monies owed to you.

You will receive a copy of communications about your claim from Pinnacol.  These are for your records.  Keep a file, and if you have questions, call Pinnacol or Human Resources.  Be sure to complete and return forms required of you; failure to do so may delay payment to you.

Be sure you arrive for your scheduled medical appointment or call if you must reschedule.  Failure to show may cause your benefits to be discontinued.

Medical bills for workers' compensation are paid on a state-mandated "fee schedule."  Our  provider must accept the payment by the insurance company as payment in full for your care, even if it is less than what was charged.  If you receive bills for the balance, or for any authorized care under a Workers' Compensation injury, DO NOT PAY THEM.  Forward these to Audra Staufenberg, in Human Resources, immediately.

If you have any questions about the care you are receiving or other issues about Workers' Compensation, please contact Human Resources.
